Going into the game people thought this might be a blow out. While I thought it would be more than a field goal game I thought it would be more in the 8-10 point Chiefs W. As I have said all year this is just who the Chiefs are and how the Chiefs play. They are good enough to win with their C game sometimes and that is what we saw today.
Lets be honest here the Chiefs defense is in a little funk right now. They had been so good for the past year that I guess it was due. Playing young corners you can understand it but they need to learn quick. Against a better team this effort would not have been good enough. They have a little time to learn before the playoffs. And now have a short week before playing the Raiders on Friday but they need to figure this out. They went almost 2 years without allowing more than 25 points and now have done it in the last two weeks. Spaggs has some work to do to say the least. But has earned the faith that he will do just that.
I will be honest with Butker out I was hoping that a game would not come down to a field goal to win it. But it did and the Chiefs were still able to get it done. A little faith builder for the next couple of weeks just in case we need it again. And with this team the chances are it will.
Mahomes looked more like Mahomes this week. Didn't make the mistakes that he had been making this year. Didn't turn the ball over. We really didn't see him miss an open WR like we have seen this year. And made the big run at the end of the game to put the Chiefs in field goal range at the end to get the win. That's what championship QBs do and we have seen him do it time and time again. Good to see that. Mahomes needs to be Mahomes.
Reports are that the Chiefs are going to be getting a new LT and MAN do they need it. Morris just hasn't done a great job. He is good for a bit but you just can't think that he is going to be able to get the job done in the playoffs against better teams. I did think the O line played better in the 2nd half than they did in the first just a little. But man Mahomes has been hit and had to run way way to often this year.
Worthy continues to get a little better as the season goes. I don't think he had one drop this week. Maybe the first game this year that has happened.
How about Noah Gray. Back to back weeks with 2 tds. Teams are gunning to take Kelce out of the game and he has really stepped up to make himself a factor in the games. Next man up at it's finest.
Lots of things to clean up after this game. Far far to many flags today. It was a pretty flag happy ref crew but you have to get that taken care of. They were called for about double to penalties that they had been averaging coming into the game. GET IT FIXED GUYS
It's on to the Black Friday game against the Raiders now. With the Chargers playing tonight against the Ravens we could have a 4 game lead by time the night ends. Just have to keep winning against the Raiders and Browns the season ends with a major challenge with some very good teams. Take care of business Friday. GO CHIEFS
